Profile

The Department of Bioanalytical Sciences at B. K. Birla College (Autonomous), Kalyan was established in 2007 to provide one of the best Professional courses to students, thereby increasing their employability. The objective of the course is to Trained Manpower in the field of Bio-analytical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industries. It is a multidisciplinary course which combines classroom-based education with practical work experience.

The laboratory is well equipped with the latest instruments which are used by the faculty and students for the various projects which are carried out during the curriculum.

The faculty members are competent and actively involved in research activities. They are encouraged to update their knowledge by attending various faculty development programs, refresher courses, workshops and seminars. The Department conducts various Co-curricular and Extracurricular activities for the students like Industrial visits, field visits, skill-based workshops on Analytical Instrumentation, Mock Interview preparation, various competitions, outreach activities, alumni lecture series, etc.

To cater the Global needs in the field of Pharmaceutical and allied fields, Post Autonomy, the Department has started various Add-on certificate courses. The department has designed the syllabus as per the Guidelines of NEP 2020 and implemented from 2023-24.

After completion of the course, there are wide career opportunities in the fields of Bioanalytical, quality control and Quality Assurance, Clinical Research and Clinical Data Management, R&D, Production, Regulatory Affairs, BA-BE studies, Pharmacovigilance, etc. The department provides 100% Placement assistance by organising Campus placement. The students are placed at various International and National Pharmaceutical and allied industries. 

VISION

•        To develop the department with state-of-the-art facilities to produce trained manpower in the field of Bioanalysis who will be able to make a successful career in the field of Pharmacy, Herbal Industry, Clinical research and allied industries.

MISSION

•        To develop a strong scientific foundation through practical-based learning including fundamental principles of Chemical, Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences and to train the students to apply these basic principles in real-world situation.

OBJECTIVE

•        To provide the best education in the field of Bioanalysis to develop trained manpower as per market need.

•        To inculcate research aptitude in students so that they can innovate and create solutions in the field of medicine using our traditional knowledge without harming environment.

•        To promote interdisciplinary research which will merge basic and applied science with technology and to benefit drug developments under an ethical vision.

•        To encourage the students who will become effective contributors towards growth of the nation.

Sonali Patil has isolated and identified the new strains of microorganisms and submitted to NCBI (National centre of Biotechnology Information, U.S. government-funded national resource for molecular biology information), assigned the specific accession name and given the name.

Sonali Patil is awarded with Vigyan Ratna Samman  - the prestigious 60th IAAA Award at the 33rd International Conference, which was meticulously organized by Edwin Incorporation in Association with AKS University Satna MP, India and H.B.S. London, taking place from the 29th to the 31st December 2023.

Sonali Patil is Awarded for Innovative research and dedicated teaching professional award in Microbiology and Biotechnology by The Society of innovative educationalist and scientific research professional, Chennai

Sonali Patil has received Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of Dr. P.D. Sethi Memorial National Award 2019 by ANchrome Ltd. For Research Paper.

1st Prize in Poster presentation by Sonali Patil on “Protein profiling of heavy metal tolerating new spp. of Pseudomonas isolated from hot water spring” at One day National Seminar on “Paryavarnam’, organized by B. K. Birla college (Autonomous) on 12th March 2019.

Sonali and Dr. Geetha Unnikrishnan Unnithan are awarded with Barbara McClintock Research Award -2017 in Bioprocess Technology by International Agency for Standards and Ratings (IASR).
